Hello, my name is
Michael Sharpe (click for photo), and I am from Pasadena, NL. I have designed this page to tell you as much about Newfoundland as I can! As you can see, I have given you a couple of the best links to places and topics related to my province, but there is so much to tell you about. So have a look around and tell me what you think. And if there is still more you want, feel free to email me and ask me anything.
Newfoundland is the furthest place that the country of Canada reaches on the east coast! And therefore is the most easterly point of
North America!
It was the first place discovered in the new world, back in 1000AD by the
Vikings
and again in 1497 by
John Cabot!
However, it is the conversation of arguement about whether or not the real discovery of the new world happened 500 or 1000 years ago!
Another interesting fact is that Newfoundland was the last region to join Canada
(April 1st, 1949).
So all the information between the first discovery, and present day, is available in the left margin, so have a great time and I hope you find something interesting, or even something you were looking for.
In addition to those Newfoundland sites that I have indicated, there are a couple of links to other Newfoundland symbols that might be of interest! Have a great time surfing and please take the time to leave a message if you can.
